I’m a PhD candidate researching metacognition
Metacognition is a fancy word for how your mind controls its own thoughts and emotions.
When learned, it’s a powerful tool for improving your well-being and mental performance.
Is your mind ever a frustrating barrier?
• Low motivation (find getting started on a task challenging)
• Uncontrollable Impulses (feel compelled to check your phone or spend hours online?)
• Vague thinking (face difficulty putting your thoughts into works, planning and executing)
• Poor focus (trouble keeping on track of tasks)
Metacognition can take you where you want to go
Learn strategies that increase your well-being at home and at work
Why do I research metacognition?
Here’s part of my story: I was born with ADHD. For years, it was difficult to control my attention, emotions, and think strategically. In fact, only 5% of students with ADHD graduate from university. I succeeded by practicing metacognitive techniques.
Today, I study metacognition for my PhD — to help others learn the knowledge and strategies that made the difference for me.
This site is where I share the latest research and simple tools you can use.

“Brightening the house of the mind.”
What is metacognition?
Why now? Stakes (crisis-related)
- what are you saving customers from?
- Questions that shows the pain you’re saving people from “Do you struggle with…? Have you…?”
- timeless principle - control mind so it doesn’t control you.
- cognition crisis.
Why Bright Home Mind?
Think of our mind as a dark house.
The central narrative of human history is that of a dark house. (cognitive history)
Humans began on earth without knowledge. The universe was like a dark house. Human did originate with a their defining feature - brains capable of understanding everything, while originally knowing nothing. The value/purpose of our brains is that understanding gives us beneficial control. The more we understood (fire, tools, physics, illness) the more we could control to our benefit.
